Launched in 1996 by the betting powerhouse Sportingbet plc, Sportsbook.com certainly proved its resilience and dexterity over the years with its products featured on CBS 60 Minutes, CNN, ESPN, Wall Street Journal, Barrons, Financial Times, USA Today and in every major newspaper in the US and they were twice named the "Best US Sports Book" by the industry's top magazine (2005, 2006), eGaming Review. But when the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act was introduced in October 2006 it put a chink in their armor and Sportingbet chose to sell off all of their US facing online sportsbooks and associated companies in compliance with the bill. Now Sportsbook.com has joined the large family of online sportsbooks belonging to Jassy Sports Events Ltd which include SuperBook & PlayersOnly.
